The only chance during Advent to hear the full biblical story of the prophecy and birth of Christ interspersed with carols and anthems
On Sunday 20th December at 5:30pm, St Bride's will be presenting a traditional service of Nine Lessons & Carols.
Our Festival of Nine Lessons & Carols offers the only chance during Advent to hear the full range of readings in the form of service devised by Eric Milner-White for King's College, Cambridge in 1918.
To ensure everyone's safety the number of attendees in church is limited so please register soon to avoid disappointment.
This year we have welcomed a growing online community of those not able to attend services in person, so a pre-recorded version of this service will be streamed online on YouTube. Please register to Watch Online and you will be sent the YouTube link.
This year the service from King's College, Cambridge will contain no new music but rather a mixture of old favourites and less familiar pieces and we have decided to follow their lead. The latter category will include items which have been enjoyed at the many corporate carol services which we undertake in a normal year, notably Will Todd's beautiful and haunting "My Lord has come" and a quirky setting of "I wonder as I wander" by the Swiss composer Carl Rutti. And familiar favourite include Cornelius' "Three Kings" and Harold Darke's much-loved setting of "In the bleak midwinter".
